WalkingEast, the book: Encounters on the Road to Jerusalem is now available. Read about it and browse its initial 40 pages at Encounters on the Road to Jerusalem.

On 15 Jan 2009 we began a pilgrimage walking east from our front door in Paso Robles, California to Jerusalem. We walked into the Jerusalem on 23 December 2010. The time in between found us in 11 states and ten countries. Until Petra broke her leg south of Genoa, Italy we had walked better than 5300 miles (8600 kilometers), 80% of the way. We had to settle for a traditional tour from Cairo to Jerusalem.

Originally WalkingEast.com took you to the then currently active blog describing the pur pilgrimage as we progressed. There were two active blogs during the walk, the second became active as we started walking in Arles, France. But now that the walk is over neither blog is active. Use the following links to look at various stages of the walk. Use the calendar on the right side of the blog to move from month to month. Each page, except the last, moves from the last entry for the month to the earliest. The last entry moves backwards through the entire blog.

Look at Walking East: California to Jerusalem to learn how we envisioned this walk before we started and after we were on the road for 100 days.
